Hi everyone!

It was a great first day in ACI 1. I can already tell that the class is going to be great. Today, the students wrote predictions on what they think the book "Oscar's Day" is about based on this cover. Some of the responses were really creative! ^^

The actual setting (place) of the book is in Bolivia, a South American country. We'll be learning more about it next week, but here is a slideshow showing pictures of Bolivia (and neighboring Peru) to give you some idea of the country and culture. Enjoy!

Homework Details

Here is an explanation of what your child will be expected to complete for homework every week.

Monday- On Monday, we will have spelling homework. To complete this homework, they should copy the word one time on the line after each word. On the two lines under the word, write a sentence containing that word. This is due Tuesday. Have them keep the spelling list attached to the sheet so that they can complete Wednesday’s homework.

Tuesday- On Tuesday, we will do workbook. They should complete the assigned pages in the ELA workbook. This is due the following Wednesday.

Wednesday- On Wednesday, we will have a spelling activity for homework. While they complete this, they should be practicing the spelling words. This is due the following Thursday.

Thursday- On Thursday, we will be reading a book that we will be doing the book report on. The first Thursday of the month, we will be reading the ELA book at home and doing a book report together as a class. On the second to fourth week of the month, they will be reading another book. We will do our book reports on these books. Please bring back the book on Friday so that we may have literary circle.

Friday- On Friday, we will have science homework. We will read a science article, and then answer the comprehension questions. This is due the following Monday. We will also give the book reports that are due the following Thursday.

Special Note:
Dear parents,
We will be implementing an immersive curriculum designed by our own teachers for the ACI program. Our curriculum includes science, math, English language arts, and grammar, as well as additional projects. We are excited to be teaching your children and look forward to many great experiences ahead!
Please make sure your child is prepared to start the program with markers, crayons, pencils, erasers, a ruler, and counters for math. These are necessary for the learning process in the classroom.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s ACI teacher.
Thank you.
